"I felt the misery and suffering of others... I was constantly occupied with the thought of how I could be of service to the needy and the poor."

Those are thoughts shared in writing by Mother Mary Theresa many years ago. They certainly provide an answer as to why she established the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago.

Responding to the needs of the elderly, women and children requires great resources. Safe and secure places to live, associates to provide care and the many costs of daily living all carry a large financial burden. With the numbers of those in need increasing and the cost of care continuing to escalate, the need for financial support has also grown substantially.
